Healing Foundations Therapeutic Shelter (HFTS)
The Healing Foundations Therapeutic Shelter (HFTS) offers residential crisis placements for children ages 4-17 who are experiencing an increase in mental health symptoms.
While at the Shelter, children and their families are assisted in setting up mental health services such as individual and family therapy, children’s day treatment, and medication management.

Healing Foundations uses animal-assisted therapeutic methods to help teach children coping skills to better manage their mental health symptoms. The home is set on 33 acres and is home to multiple animals such as horses, rabbits, goats, alpacas, various indoor animals, and a resident-puppy named Monte.
Placement stays are funded through a host County contract with Itasca County. Payment arrangement can be made for other Counties as well. All placements must be approved by the program’s Clinical Supervisor AND the County that is financially responsible.
