Northland is a certified Children’s Therapeutic Services & Supports (CTSS) provider. CTSS is a community mental health service that allows providers to address conditions of emotional and behavioral challenges that harm and get in the way with a child’s ability to function. It is designed to be individualized and to be flexible in terms of location of service (in-home, school, community) and frequency of contact (number of hours of service provided per week).
Skills Training is the teaching and practice of specific behavioral skills that have not been developed or that can replace ineffective skills developed.
Specific games and activities are selected to help children learn the skills they need to restore the child to a level of functioning that they had either achieved before or would have achieved if normal development had not been impaired because of a mental health.
